What is TypeMaster?
TypeMaster is a free online typing speed test. It measures how many words per minute (WPM) you type and how accurate you are, so you can see your progress over time. No download or account is needed to start.
What you can do

- Choose between word, quote, free and timed modes, with optional punctuation and numbers.

How WPM is calculated
We follow the standard used by most typing tests: every 5 characters you type count as one word. Your WPM is the number of these words divided by the minutes spent typing. Accuracy is the percentage of characters you typed correctly.
How the test works
- Choose a mode: timed, words, quotes or free typing, with optional punctuation and numbers.
- Type the text you see. Your WPM and accuracy update live.
- See your result, your typing spirit animal, and share it with friends.

Who makes TypeMaster
TypeMaster is an independent project, built and maintained by a single developer, with no company or investors behind it. Its aim is simple: a clean, free typing test and typing lessons that work as well in Arabic as they do in English.

How our articles are written
Our guides are based on common touch typing practice and, where it exists, on published research such as the large online typing studies from Aalto University. Speed ranges are approximate, and the articles say so. We update an article when we find better information.
